Inflatable Packaging: Superheroes of Sustainability
Words are important. Use the right words, (“In Einsten’s thesis of molecular dimensions…”) and you sound pretty darn intelligent. Use the wrong words and the results can vary. For example, going on a first date with Donna and saying, “Thank you for a wonderful night, Diane” would drastically diminish your chances at a second date. Epic Fail.
Another example, one that I find particularly irksome, is when people say “we need to reduce, recycle, and reuse in order to save the planet”. I have no argument against recycling but let’s be honest, our planet has been around for about 4.5 billion years. And according to many scientists, it will be about another 5 billion years or so before the sun bloats to the point that it will devour the earth. Everyone alive today worrying about “saving the planet” will be long gone by then.
No matter what we do to the earth, it will survive us, our children, our children’s children, etc. So when people talk about “saving the planet”, what they actually mean is, “we need to reduce, recycle, and reuse in order to keep the planet inhabitable for us and our future generations”. And in addition to the original “3 R’s”, we should add a fourth: “replace”.
"Sustainable" and "sustainability" are pretty popular buzzwords nowadays. Though there are several denotative definitions of the word, there seems to be only one connotative definition. Most people agree that sustainability means not being harmful to the environment, not depleting the earth’s resources, and replacing what we use when we can. There’s that fourth “R”.
But How Does Inflatable Packaging Help?
A large percentage of people now make purchases online. Meaning items need to be shipped from point A to point E.
- Point A is where the item is made
- Point B is most likely a port of entry
- Point C is a distribution center
- Point D is the parcel carrier’s hub and
- Point E is the final location of the person making the purchase
All of this transportation is often described as the “carbon footprint”. If we use better packaging, we can reduce the weight and dimensions of the parcels. This allows for more items per container and fewer containers in transit. And that spells a lower carbon footprint.

Congratulations! We just gave ourselves a little more time on planet earth.
Using the technology behind recyclable plastic and air, Inflatable Packaging creates packaging that not only protects the item being shipped, but the environment as well. Our packaging has a 95% source reduction over other types of commonly used materials (polystyrene, exothermic foam, molded pulp, etc.). And when our bags have done their job (helping ensure that the person who bought something, receives it in pristine condition), the air can be released so that the protection is reduced down to its original size (95% smaller) and recycled.

You won’t just feel like a better person after using Inflatable Packaging, you actually will be.
Trust us.
By changing something as simple as how things are packaged and shipped, we may be able to buy ourselves enough time for scientists to figure out how to stop the sun from devouring us. Given the advances of technology in the last few decades, imagine what those geniuses can come up with in the next 5 billion years.
